Polymer Clay Ribbon Candy

More Christmas candy! This might be my favorite candy to have around at Christmas time, not so much for the taste but for the look and shape. It looks happy to me. I think I’m going to make other colors too.

This batch was made from Cernit also, just like the mints and corns. I like using this clay because it does have a translucent look, like a lot of real candy does. I do mix in a bit of white to brighten up the colors, just not too much to lose the candy look.

I used white(porcelain) with a little opaque white mixed in, red and green.

I am so on a roll, I’m going to need more clay! Hey, Howard can you help a girl out here! – T

Bead for the Fair

Lathe turned Bead

I promised I would tell you about my second entry for the San Diego County Fair.  I made a bead that had a beach theme.  It had a big wave, a sand castle, some footprints in the sand and a big sun.  But it did not excite me.  I had initially wanted to enter one of my beads that I turn on the lathe.  So I looked around to see if I had one that was nearly finished.  I found one that I really liked that just needed to be sanded and buffed to a nice shine.  I wanted to add some wire and accent beads to dress it up a bit.  I used some crystals.  Give it a little Bling!  I even created the Bead Stand for it so it can be displayed at the fair.  You can check it out there.  -K

You know it is almost summer when….

Kaleidoscope Bead Necklace

It is that time of year again.  Soon the smell of deep fat fried everything… will fill the air.  I am talking about the San Diego County Fair.  I entered two items in this year.  First a necklace made from my Kaleidoscope cane beads.  I had a particular vision in my mind.  I kept thinking I should have taken pictures along the way.  I would get the chains strung and then I would think of an idea that I thought would make a better design.  So I would change it to the new idea.  I think I went through at least 3-4 different variations.  Even after I took pictures of it so I would have them to show you I changed the back necklace.  I didn’t like it having the clasps on each side of the end of the three strand chains.  I changed it to a single lobster claw clasp which hooks in the back. So if you want to see the final product you will have to visit the fair.  Next time I will tell you about the other entry.  It has a story also…. -K

Summer Is Just Around The Corner

Soon it will be hot summer days, swimsuit season and no hiding from it.

If we want to look good in our beachwear we better start working on it now. Sometimes squeezing just doesn’t work! – T

Care For A Mint?

I have made a bazillion polymer clay mint beads…or at least it feels like it!

This is also Cernit polymer clay. You gotta check out Clay Factory Inc., Howard’s waiting.

I used white(porcelain) with a little opaque white mixed in and red. I think, except for the size, they look very real.

This is only some of what I have! I don’t even have a plan for them all. Hmm, bracelets? necklaces? for ornaments? I know, a mini garland!  – T

I Have Corns!

Yes, I do! Lots of POLYMER CLAY CANDY CORNS! Still on my candy kick, I’ve been working with Halloween colors. I need to be ready when the holidays hit. So far, I have itty bitty no hole corns, small corns with holes running across, medium corns with holes across and some vertical, large corns with vertical holes. I should have taken the picture before separating the different kinds, sorry, I am not letting them get mixed up again! I made these using Cernit brand polymer clay, I think it looks the most like the real thing! I bought the clay from Clay Factory Inc. in Escondido.

I used white porcelain, orange and lemon

Whew, that’s a bunch! … or is it a bushel?

I wonder if I have enough to part with on Etsy?  – T

Polymer Clay Candy Sticks And Mints

Way back when my hubby and I were dating we used to like to go to Old Town, here in San Diego. We would walk all around and then have dinner in the Bazaar Del Mundo. Actually, he asked me to marry him while we were waiting for a table at Casa De Pico.

*pause here for a happy little sigh*

Anyway, we seem to go to Old Town a lot still. I like to go to The Shepherdess, it’s a great bead shop. It’s been there a long time. Nobody in the family wants to go if it means waiting for me to check out what’s new at the bead store. So this is where the candy shop comes in handy, sort of. I come out of The Shepherdess with a really small bag that cost a small fortune, and the kids come out of the candy store with a small bag that cost a small fortune! Everyone is happy but daddy, who gets to pay.

Sooo… inspired by the candy shops around San Diego and on Little House On The Prairie, I have made these.

I have them in these bottles because I had a request to fill that size. I am on a candy roll and going to make a zillion or so.

Outta my way Willy!  – T

A Celebrity In Polymer Clay

Trying to cut back we chose no cable TV for a couple of years. We did ok, the house felt a little too quite and boring at times. Personally, I never get tired of watching any movie with Johnny Depp over and over again.  Anyway, we were missing a lot of our favorite shows though. So, now we have gone back to the dark side. The last thing I need to do is get hooked on a TV show…but I have. Mostly I watch in disbelief. I sit there on my bed thinking “OMG, are you kidding me?!” Yeah, I watch the Housewives of NY and OC(but loosing interest fast in OC) . There are so many celebs out there that I don’t even know now.

You gotta check out what our friend Marie made! I didn’t put the picture here I want you to be surprised.

I kept seeing this person all over the place, why?

Black Tentacles

Who doesn’t like your basic black and white earrings?

I’ve been sick for about 2 weeks now. I may be low on brain food. Some of you might argue that I have always been low.

I really like wearing these. At a glance they just look polka-dotted. I made 2 pairs so I could list 1 on Etsy. Maybe I do need vitamins… – T
