Beginner Clay Work! On the Road.

Hi Everybody!  I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving.  I am out here in Nashville visiting my brother and his family.  We had a craft day and were playing with some clay.  I just had to show you what Rachel and Emily made with some of the clay.  They are 9 years old and have never played with polymer clay before.  Emily loves creatures of all kinds.  She wanted to make a turtle so I showed her how we could make a cane to make the shell more colorful.  Rachel wanted to make a hermit crab, because they used to have them.  She did it all on her own.  It is amazing.  They both then started making all kinds of accessories for the turtle.  Emily decided it needed an airplane.  Rachel decided it needed some glasses.  They went on and on… We had a great time.  I think I got their big sister Sarah hooked too, but she has already done clay and is an excellent artist in her own right.  She loves to draw.  -K

I Hate Doing the Socks!

It’s no secret at my house. When doing the laundry, I hate doing the socks! Right now as I am writing this there is a pile on my bed. Clean? Yes. There are 5 people living here, with 2 feet each. Makes 10 socks each day, that’s a lot. Then there are those random ones you can find throughout the house. Thank God it’s only socks.

I have a feeling my hostility toward sorting the socks comes from needing glasses now. The poor lighting in my room doesn’t help. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, more than 3/4 of the socks are black.

So, when I can’t take the mess anymore, I ask for help in a grouchy way. Left to their own devices, everyone picks out their pair for the day. :/    A few weeks ago, I asked Nikki to do them around noonish. It was now 10 or 11…pm, tired and tired of excuses. When saying goodnight, I mentioned to her that she had all day and didn’t do them. She got out of bed and did them. I didn’t know she did until she came out to tell me. I felt kinda bad, but grateful. After saying good night again, she kept asking when I was going to bed. Finally, I went to bed…

Aww…(*snif*)

I <3 U too Nikki.

Love, Tina aka Mom

Did you get the license plate of the car that ran over me?

Get the license number!

I finally got to wear the costume I had planned to wear at Sandy Camp.  Things were crazy on movie night and I just did not get around to putting it on.  I dressed as Flo from Progressive insurance who had been run over by a car.  So I have tire tracks up the middle of my body.  So I answered the door for all the Trick or Treaters this Halloween.  I love seeing all the little kids in their costumes.  It was fun being dressed up and seeing their reaction to me too.  One boy said he wanted to come back and get insurance when he was old enough to have a car…  I hope everybody had a safe and fun Halloween.  -K

A New Costume for the Doctor!

I offered to help my cousin and her husband with their Halloween costumes if need be. They took me up on my offer a couple of weeks ago. Mostly, it was her husband. He loves to have costumes that are more original. A few years back he was Jack in the Box, big round head an’ all. They had a lot of fun visiting all the local fast food places on Halloween. People thought it was funny to see that Jack eating at Burger King and Wendy’s. They said one employee at Jack in the Box walked past him saying “Hi boss.”. Kids really got a kick out of it!

Fast forward to this year.

My cousin’s husband is a doctor, a podiatrist.

I had no idea of what he had in mind, maybe a little sewing? …no?

He brought me a picture of them posing with a guy dressed as the Lamisil Digger! Um, yeah, the toe fungus guy.

I love a challenge, I think.

This is the papier-mache head almost done. I’ve done lots of pinatas in the past. It felt like doing another giant one! I know, I should have taken more pictures along the way.

They both came over yesterday and helped me finish him up.

For the rest of the outfit I sewed sweatpants, a sweatshirt and a tail, all with spots glued on the back. He bought some creepy feet and gloves to wear too.

I love this. So do they. He’s already talking about the next costume!

I’m going to miss this big orange head taking up all that room on my dining table.

Mellowcreme Pumpkins in Polymer Clay

New in my Etsy Shop….

itty bitty polymer clay Mellowcreme Pumpkin beads!

I love the candy! I could eat a whole bag(or two) no problem. I may try to make the other things in the bag, maybe. I think this may require more research….

Yum! – Tina
