Happy Fall To You ALL!

I can’t believe how long it has been since I have posted.  I have been living life.  Whatever that means.  I have a dog now.  Did I tell you that.  That is a new experience for me.  Ginger is great.  We are learning all kind of new things.  She is a pomeranian.  But without the yip, all the hair and the short nose.  We think she must be a throwback to before they were bred smaller.  She is about 12 pounds.

Ginger strikes a pose.

San Diego Polymer Clay Guild’s Sandy Camp 14 has come and gone.  50’s Rock and Roll.  We had a great time.  I dressed up as “Lucy”  I never did find “Ricky” for those of you who asked.  We had some rain, but nothing we couldn’t handle.  It was better than too much heat.  We had lots of friends from all over and learned some new techniques.

It is hard to believe it is mid October.  Time flies.  But soon the temperature gauge will dip below 90 and we will again enjoy or San Diego weather we pay for…. It has been a hot one.  I came away from Sandy Camp with lots of new thing I want to try and all those that I didn’t get done before I left.

So what is everybody else up to these days???  -K

Happy New Year All you out there…..

Hi Everybody-  I have been MIA for a while.  I sure hope that you have all had a wonderful holiday season.  We still need to remove the lights from the outside of the house.  We can then get all the Decorations stored away in the attic for another year….  Jen goes back to college on Tuesday.  ugh.    So what have you all been making?  Anything exciting?  I might get inspired by your projects.  I am really trying to get my head on straight.

At this moment Yahoo says that they cannot retreive my email.  That I need to walk away from 10+ years of contacts and other info.  I have been making a list of places I need to contact.  Ugh.  That does not help my Head…  But it does clean out my old  emails….  So if you are reading this and have tried to reach me by email you know why I have not responded.

January is running fast and I pray you are all having a great time making things.  Is it sewing, painting, drawing, what kind of textures or glitters are you working with?  Christi Friesen Blathered about playing with glitter.  Check out all of her great work!  http://www.cforiginals.net/ I know my friend Dawna has a clean work surface she was bragging about today on FB.  Maybe I could start there.

Happy New Year! K

Angel for Gift Exchange.

Angel in Cernit

The San Diego Polymer Clay Guild Gift Exchange was last  Saturday.  It had been a crazy week after returning from my trip out east.  I had a great time! I had not been very productive throughout the week.  I wanted to make an angel.  I had it in my head, but  had not actually sat down to do it.  Once I got going on it I had a good time.  It seemed to come together as I wanted it too.  I want to do more.  This is how it turned out.  I think the person who received it appreciated it.  She is made with Cernit clay and then highlighted with pearlex powders.  I used a texture sheet for her Wings.   Next time I think I will try more color, maybe some canes.  I like how she came out  -K

Tis the Season—

I’m home from traveling the country and trying to get myself organize to start decking the halls for Christmas.  Yesterday Marty and I went out and did some shopping.  That is hard work…  Jen is about to get on a plane to come home as I write this.  I have a list of things I would like to accomplish before she comes home, but have not.

I really need to get something made for our Guild Christmas Exchange which is tomorrow.  I have it all planned, but it has just not been on the top of the list yet!  So I hope that you are doing more or making more than what I have.  I have lots of good intentions to bake, maybe sew and of course decorate.  But I have been very bad at keeping up with this blog.  So I will post this to let you know that I am alive and will be off to get something accomplished that I can show you.  Have a wonderful holiday season and Merry Christmas!  -K

A New Costume for the Doctor!

I offered to help my cousin and her husband with their Halloween costumes if need be. They took me up on my offer a couple of weeks ago. Mostly, it was her husband. He loves to have costumes that are more original. A few years back he was Jack in the Box, big round head an’ all. They had a lot of fun visiting all the local fast food places on Halloween. People thought it was funny to see that Jack eating at Burger King and Wendy’s. They said one employee at Jack in the Box walked past him saying “Hi boss.”. Kids really got a kick out of it!

Fast forward to this year.

My cousin’s husband is a doctor, a podiatrist.

I had no idea of what he had in mind, maybe a little sewing? …no?

He brought me a picture of them posing with a guy dressed as the Lamisil Digger! Um, yeah, the toe fungus guy.

I love a challenge, I think.

This is the papier-mache head almost done. I’ve done lots of pinatas in the past. It felt like doing another giant one! I know, I should have taken more pictures along the way.

They both came over yesterday and helped me finish him up.

For the rest of the outfit I sewed sweatpants, a sweatshirt and a tail, all with spots glued on the back. He bought some creepy feet and gloves to wear too.

I love this. So do they. He’s already talking about the next costume!

I’m going to miss this big orange head taking up all that room on my dining table.
