Dragon Attack

The other day I seemed to get a little push from the great beyond or something. I just had this feeling I need to add more stuff in my Etsy Shop. I didn’t question the feeling I just did it. Usually, I will question – is this good enough? I think we all do. Art is very personal. I have so much stuff made and ready to sell at a craft sale.

Digging around I found my Christi Friesen inspired dragons I made a while back. I have all her books, she’s awesome!

I really like this one, he’s my new favorite. – T

Polymer Clay Dragon Heart Pendant

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about fantasy themed things. You know, one inspiration leads to another.

I was looking for a quick polymer clay fix. The steampunk lead back to a heart pendant. Only I didn’t feel like doing a basic red.

Hearing the growling behind me…

…my son is playing World Of Warcraft. My work space is in the same room as the computer. WOW is loaded with awesome creatures! Yes, a dragon heart! Then I thought of that movie with the same name – DragonHeart. In the movie Dennis Quaid becomes friends with the last dragon and there’s an issue with the dragon’s shared heart, the king, good and evil. That’s why it’s stitched up.

I guess I could do red too. – T

More Bottle Caps To Steampunk

After teaching a few classes at The Bouncing Bead I couldn’t help getting back in the steampunk mood. I’ve made some rings and pendants for my Esty Shop.  Back to silver overlay bottle caps, you know… fancy recycling.

Notice the little flower swirl in the pendant? I got that from one of Marie’s Etsy Shops – The Hoarder’s Closet. I kinda like that bit of pretty in it.

I thought all bottle cap jewelry was the same until I held other brands at the craft and hobby trade show last January. The ones from the scrapbook companies were really light weight, they almost felt like soda can metal.

I did not buy any.

These are from a jewelry manufacturer, Amate Studios. Big difference, these feel so much sturdier.

It looks like I just can’t get away from purple and blue. I’ll try to force myself to expand my color choices on the next thing I make…really!  – T

Polymer Clay Purple Steampunk Pendant of Happiness

While I was working on steampunk pendants I wanted to put a little more meaning into this little art piece. Maybe a thought or message. Keeping in mind that with this one I only had one inch square to work in. No way would I be able to rubber stamp any words longer than two letters. This really limits my choices in English.

In my stash of rubber stamps I have a secret weapon. One that will help me convey what good vibes I was concentrating on while making the pendant…muahahaha…Chinese characters!

This one is Happiness. The copper of the finding and purple compliment each other, add the sparkle and shine from the watchworks. I’m good with this.  – T

A Celebrity In Polymer Clay

Trying to cut back we chose no cable TV for a couple of years. We did ok, the house felt a little too quite and boring at times. Personally, I never get tired of watching any movie with Johnny Depp over and over again.  Anyway, we were missing a lot of our favorite shows though. So, now we have gone back to the dark side. The last thing I need to do is get hooked on a TV show…but I have. Mostly I watch in disbelief. I sit there on my bed thinking “OMG, are you kidding me?!” Yeah, I watch the Housewives of NY and OC(but loosing interest fast in OC) . There are so many celebs out there that I don’t even know now.

You gotta check out what our friend Marie made! I didn’t put the picture here I want you to be surprised.

I kept seeing this person all over the place, why?

Marie, you crack me up!   – T

Kalidescope Canes Galore!

Beads Galore!

Wow!  Am I having fun with these.  The colors worked out even better than I planned.  I have come up with all kinds of beads and pendant pieces that I hope to create some fabulous spring jewelry with.  The next step for most of them is sanding and buffing.  That is not my favorite part, but it makes them look so nice!  Once they have that nice shine then I will add more detail to some of them.  What exciting things to make…  I didn’t want to go to bed last night. -K

Smooth Steampunk

As I have mentioned before, I have a problem with wearing steampunk jewelry that can be lethal. I don’t want to wear  a necklace that may sever my jugular if I turn my head too fast. Yet, I love all the little bit and pieces of antique watches. Now I have them trapped…muahahaha… in a generous coat of resin. Nice and smooth

In the center of this pendant I put a layer of polymer clay with a load of watch parts imbedded then a thick coat of resin. The metal pendant itself I got from Marie Segal. She has so many cool things for sale in her supply store on Etsy, The Hoarders Closet. I bet you could find some treasures too!

I also got these hair pins from her. These are very easy to work with. Fill them up with what ever you like.

These two are so smooth that in the picture they pick up the reflection of the patio and the sky! They look better in person.

These finished pieces are for sale in my Etsy shop! – T
